Unfortunately, I&#8217;ve been a horrible blogger so, instead, here are my tweets from the latter half of July. (By the way,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/macdogald\">follow me on Twitter<\/a>!)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tweet of the Week<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, this article isn&#8217;t really long or detailed, but perhaps that&#8217;s part of its appeal! \u00a0Science Daily published an\u00a0article\u00a0called: &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2012\/06\/120619225717.htm\">Dog-associated house dust protects against respiratory infection linked to asthma<\/a>&#8220;. It provides clues why kids that live in homes with pets seem to have less risk of developing asthma. Cool, eh?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pet Rescue and Pet Sheltering<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Heading for Home (a Victorian rescue group) wrote a blog post called &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.headingforhome.asn.au\/the-myth-of-the-irresponsible-public\/\">The myth of the &#8220;irresponsible public&#8221;<\/a>&#8221; which asks if you (as the public) are really that irresponsible&#8230; A positive approach to the rescue effort is necessary.<\/p>\n<p>The examiner does some mythbusting on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/article\/the-lie-of-pet-overpopulation-continues\">the lie of pet overpopulation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Further mythbusting:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.astraean.com\/borderwars\/2012\/06\/now-only-2-of-dogs-die-in-shelters.html\">Only 2% of dogs die in shelters yearly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Words of advice from That Mutt:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thatmutt.com\/2012\/06\/11\/treat-your-shelter-volunteers-well-2\/\">Treat your shelter volunteers well<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An interesting video and read from Brett at KC Dog Blog on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/btoellner.typepad.com\/kcdogblog\/2012\/06\/optimism-bias-and-screening-adopters.html\">optimism Bias and screening adopters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A fun way to encourage adoptions:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.doggelganger.co.nz\">the Dog Doggelganger<\/a>\u00a0(New Zealand).<\/p>\n<p>A short shelter poem: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=457044654324647&amp;set=a.125101720852277.16481.106267389402377&amp;type=1&amp;ref=nf\">The Family Dog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dog Health<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Peggy Frezon&#8217;s post &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/peggyfrezon.blogspot.com.au\/2012\/06\/home-after-surgery.html\">Home after surgery<\/a>&#8221; serves as a reminder on the danger of feeding corn cobs to dogs.
