Sometimes it’s the best ones that take the longest to home. \u00a0I think Lucky is fast becoming one of ‘those’. \u00a0The first line of her PetRescue<\/a> profile is, “My name is Lucky and you’d be oh so lucky to have me!” – and I truly mean it. \u00a0She is one of the nicest dogs I have had come through rescue.<\/p>\n

\"Lucky<\/a>Her story goes: On Wednesday the 4th I received a phone call asking to take a surrender. \u00a0Lucky’s owner was sick and, though the owner’s daughter had taken Lucky on, Lucky kept escaping from the yard.<\/p>\n

I drove to pick her up. \u00a0I was told that she was a 9 year old, heeler crossed with a kelpie crossed with a jack russel terrier – so I was surprised when a small kelpie-like dog bounced into the room with enthusiasm and youth.<\/p>\n

And my first thoughts were, “I’ve struck gold here! This will be an easy rehome.” \u00a0Lucky was already desexed, so I had very little vet work to pay for, too.<\/p>\n

The next day, I got her microchipped, vaccinated, and listed her on PetRescue.<\/p>\n

And you know… I haven’t got one single enquiry! She’s been up for a week now!<\/p>\n

For difficult dogs with big issues, I don’t mind if I don’t get many enquiries. \u00a0But for lovely dogs, with beautiful dispositions, and flexible needs, I do mind! \u00a0There is nothing wrong with Lucky!<\/p>\n

Okay, so she escapes when left in a yard – but why would you leave her in a yard? \u00a0She’s toilet trained, she doesn’t chew things up, she’s perfect to leave in the house.<\/p>\n

I’m Lucky and you’d be oh so lucky to welcome me as a new family member! I am happy, well behaved, and generally a lovely dog.<\/p>\n

I am house trained, and can sit, shake hands, stay, and like to play fetch. I am quiet and calm inside and in the car.<\/p>\n

I get along with everyone and everything – dogs, cats, birds, whatever. My favourite company is humans, though.<\/p>\n

My biggest vice is that I like humans a bit too much, and I try to escape when I don’t have human company. For that reason, I am only suitable to a home that has almost 24 hour human company, and a home that is committed to locking me inside to keep me safe. My adoption will be subject to a yard check.<\/p>\n

Please do not be put off by my age – I’m sprightly, happy, and enthusiastic girl who acts like I’m in the prime of my life.<\/p>\n
