I am proud to announce that Some Thoughts About Dogs was voted as one of the ‘Top 107′ pet blogs. A pretty cool honour. If you have the time, there are 106 other pet blogs you can click through to. Phew!
I am also belatedly extending my thanks to Haopee at My Dogs Love Me for presenting me with the Versatile Blogger Award (though all the way back in January… whoops).
Seven Things About Tegan
1. Well, firstly, some of you may not know that I am Tegan, so that may be a good place to start. I am the eldest Tegan I know, so I think that is suitable evidence to claim I started this current name trend.
2. I am an absolute sucker for ‘reality TV’, and can get into pretty much any reality TV show in existence. At the moment I am spreading my time between Australian MasterChef (a cooking show) and The Block (an Australian renovation show).
3. I am one of the most devoted vegetarians you’ll ever meet. I don’t eat any dead animals, including gelatine, rennet, and certain additives. I don’t eat anything without reading the ingredients, and it’s a good thing too, as I’d probably be as wide as a house given free reign… (Bonus fact about me: I’m good at eating.)
4. Christmas gift giving is one of my favourite traditions, and I spend a lot of time putting thought and effort into family gifts. I normally have completed my Christmas shopping in about September – I love it that much!
5. I recently booked our wedding date for the 2nd of November 2013!
6. This month, I received the worst dog bite ever… From a six week old puppy… I plan to blog about it in all details soon!
7. Along with my three ‘permanent resident’ dogs, this house a number of other animal residents. Living here are five frogs, about a score of fish (inside and in a pond), two chickens, and a cockatiel.
15 Bloggers that are Versatile
1. My Gay Shoes – This blog is not a pet blog, so forgive me, but it is definitely versatile! Though it spends a lot of time looking at GLBT issues, it also has a lot of ‘fun’ stuff too. Versatile!
2. Terrierman’s Daily Dose – I originally started following this blog as a terrier person, but soon found it is a lot more diverse than just terriers! There are a lot of doggy bits, but also a lot of animal bits, and some political bits, too. Versatile!
3. Follow the Piper – This is such a fun blog to follow. I am forever learning something new from Piper the Basenji – from dogs on the Titanic, to dogs owned by Oprah, to even some non dog things! Another versatile blogger.
4. Pet Blogs United – Pam and Oskar started this blog to unite pet blogs, and they do a pretty good job! Blogging about existing and new bloggers periodically. However, they also do a lot of give aways and other fun stuff. Also a versatile blog.
5. Worms and Germs Blog -Who would’ve thought that a blog about ‘worms and germs’ could be classified as versatile! The diversity of worms and germs out there put them in my top 15 versatile bloggers.
6. Peggy’s Pet Place – Peggy’s pet place also has a lovely collection of different topics that they blog about. A lot of fun.
7.Today I Found Out – On a near-daily basis, the Today I Found Out blog gives you new information on stuff you didn’t know you wanted to know… A diverse range of topics, on animal and non-animal things.
8. What’s in John’s Freezer – WARNING! This blog has some gorey content. John’s freezer is home to a versatile assortment of animals…
9. Deformutilation – BIGGER WARNING! This blog has some gorey content, too. This is not a pet blog, but features ‘strange things’. A lot of the time it’s dead bodies, but sometimes it’s cool pollution, or pretty cemeteries, or physical anomalies. It’s pretty cool, but does post some content that may turn some stomachs.
10. Dare to Dream Big! – No warnings required at all for this one. Like the ‘Today I Found Out’ blog, Dare to Dream Big! provides informative posts about famous people, written in a simple, accessible, biographical way.
11. The Featured Creature – A lovely blog that posts on the diversity of creature life out there, with a special fascination for sea slugs…
12. The Creature Cast - I was so very excited when I found this blog, and I haven’t been disappointed since subscribing earlier this year. This blog creates little videos about animal anomalies and explains how it works. Very clever, cool, fun, and educational. Another versatile blogger.
13. Rescued Insanity – Rescued Insanity covers a lot of topics. At the moment, there are lots of walking and fitness posts, but this is in no way representative of the Rescued Insanity landscape – they are much more versatile! Having followed this blog for over a year, I can attest to this!
14. The Other End of the Leash – Patricia McConnell’s blog actually gets a mention for its versatility in each post! Many of Trish’s post finish with ‘on the farm’, talking about all the lovely farmies on her property. So involved in so many things animal!
15. Child’s Own – This one is another blog that is not a pet blog, but the diversity in this woman’s sewing skills – wow! It’s such a lovely idea – she creates children drawings into real life plush toys. And well executed!
That was a very hard effort to find fifteen blogs that are versatile. I hope it gives my readers some new bloggers to check out.
Also, apologies for my sporadic blogging schedule. I am currently looking for a new job, and writing pretentious cover letters on a near daily basis leaves little writing zest for this blog. I hope that soon I can return to the enjoyable task of writing about dogs soon.
Congratulations on making the list! I am not the least bit surprised as I love reading your website. You always have such great information about dogs and their behaviour and help me think about things from a new perspective.
Sadly, for some reason I keep missing your posts, even though I think I subscribed a long time ago. I am going to have to figure out what’s going on there. In the meantime, I have some reading to do!
Thanks also for the award! It was so kind of you to think of me, especially amonst such a diverse line-up. I look forward to checking out these other sites as well.
Thanks for letting me know that the subscribe function is not working, Kristine. I will have to play around with it a bit. :/
Just wanted to thank you for putting me on your list. Your list is awesome, I have a bunch of new blogs to follow.
Cheers!
Thanks for stopping by, Kelly. I look forward to continuing to follow your blog.
Congratulations on your blog being named one of the Top 107 Pet blogs–your blog so deserves the award! And thanks for passing the Versatile Blogger Award onto me–I so appreciate it! I’m so sorry about your puppy bite, but I’m so happy about your future wedding–how exciting! I look forward to checking out the other blogs on your list and passing the award on to some other great blogs! Thanks Again!
Thanks for stopping by, Sandra, and for commenting. Look forward to seeing who you pass the award onto.
Thank you for the award!
And congrats on your award. I enjoyed learning all that about you. I kind of hate to admit it, but I also enjoy reality TV! I love Master Chef.
Thanks again!
Peggy
I think reality TV gets a bad name – I think many of us secretly enjoy it. Just owning up to it is hard!
Congrats on the awards!
Thanks!
Wow, January! LOL. It’s been that long huh. Back then I was new in the blogging world.
I say, better late than never! Gahh, my head is aching badly. I feel like I’m being pounded over and over again.
Anyway, congratulations on your set wedding date. And to tell you frankly, I used to love Christmas shopping as well. And I’m usually prepared as early as October. The wrappers aren’t out til then.
And congratulations on the Top 107 Blog.
Huggies and Cheese,
Haopee
