When Clover was about 8 months old, we visited her breeder’s rural house interstate. We were loading up the car early in the morning (it was still dark) and Clover was off lead. When it came time to load Clover into the car, it was clear that she had found poo to roll in. I didn’t have enough time to fix this problem before we left, so Clover was loaded into the car, smelling like poo.
Did I mention that this was on the way to a dog show? Once we got there, I took Clover into the bathroom and put her under the tap to attempt to wash the poo off her. I managed to get off the poo, but not the poo smell.
A friend at the dog show had some smell-pretty spray and this managed to cover the poo smell, for about 5 minutes, before it was back again. I ended up saturating Clover in the spray moments before she entered the show ring, in the hope that the poo smell would be masked for the moments that mattered.
The moral of this story? It would’ve been pretty good to have Dark Chocolate Scented Splash.
Luckily, this is now an addition to my grooming box which accompanies me on all shows!
I was very excited when Maqnifiscent Grooming Products contacted me on Twitter, asking if I’d be interested in doing a product review.
I watched the letterbox eagerly, and it was a long wait because it came from the USA! But it arrived in good conditioned and lovingly packed, especially to prevent leaks. I was pleased with the care taken in transport.
Maqnifiscent had sent me a squirty bottle with Dark Chocolate Scented Splash. This made me even more excited, because I’m pretty into chocolate.
Apparently, as well being a scented product, it works as a conditioner and detangle coat. I, sadly, couldn’t test this claim as my dogs coats aren’t the type that needs this kind of care.
However, on the smell front, this product is great. It smells nice (mm, chocolate), and the smell sticks to the dog easily. The smell is still distinctive on the dog hours after it has been applied. It is, however, quite a strong smell, so you must use caution not to put too much on. The good news is: A little goes a long way! One squirt and your dog is covered for a long time.
There is no obvious residue on the dog’s coat. The only evidence that the product is on the dog is the smell!
I have added the scent spray to my grooming box to use in emergencies that like the story I conveyed at the start of this post. I don’t have the desire to have my dogs smell like chocolate all the time, but it’ll certainly also be nice for ‘special occasions’. I’m also thinking it might be nice to spray rescue dogs before they meet potential new families.
I would definitely continue to use this spray and recommend it to others.

Very interesting product – I’ll might just have to try this one out
…how did your dogs react to the smell?
My dogs didn’t care at all. Mum’s dog took objection and tried to rub it off, hehe.
not a chocolate fan huh?
